About This Blog.

I'm the kind of girl who bakes when she's upset. I get weak in the knees for a man in a sultry dinner jacket. I'm obsessed with menswear. I love art. I love photography. I love style. I can't tell you one designer from another, but I can tell you what I like when I see it. I'm a music whore. I like far too many songs, and far too many bands. (Feel free to give me new artists to obsess over) I dream of extensive travels. I'm about 70% ambition and 30% sarcasm. I like to think I'm a New Yorker that was born on the wrong coast, but I am such a California girl. I have a deep appreciation for anything tall, dark, and handsome. I love old movies more than is healthy, and I like to document my heart's desires. That's basically what this blog is. You never know where life will take you, but it sure is an adventure.

Things I love: Love.

It's a rainy day, and I do not feel like writing my psychology essay and bibliography. So instead, I blog. It's still writing...close enough.

Things I love? Love. Friend love, boyfriend love, best friend love, sister love, parent love, cousin love, I-have-the-best-dog-in-the-world-love. All of it. I love love. (I often hate it too, but I'm 19 year old female. I'm not fully matured yet.)

I also love things that remind you of love. Like these photos.

When I am married, I expect the  hubs and I to spend wintery Saturday mornings drinking hot cocoa out of these mugs, curled up in a blanket together in a window seat, and reading to each other. Probably with some corny indie music playing in the background, reminding us how much we love each other. He'll of course look perfect with bedhead, and I'll look like a human Loch Ness Monster. But we'll be married, so he'll love me even when I don't look cute.
That's love.
Loving someone when they're not perfect. Not worshiping them, but knowing them. Knowing their flaws, knowing their faults, and accepting them. Not criticizing, not nagging, and not being offensive. Working through the tough times that come, pinching pennies, and looking on the bright side. Knowing what makes them tick, and what ticks them off (but not purposefully upsetting them). Sitting in silence comfortably, not feeling pressured for conversation. Waking them up to breakfast in bed, and their favorite song. Voluntarily taking the kids somewhere so mom can have some rest. Laying out his suit and tie for him to wear to work the next day. Always saying I love you, and meaning it. Making each other smile. Making each other laugh until it hurts. Calling just to hear that voice, when you're not together. Even if you just parted earlier that evening. That's love to me.
Everyone deserves love, so don't deny yourself some happiness in this life.
Call your parents or best friend or sibling or somebody today, and tell them you love them. Believe me, it doesn't get old, hearing someone care about you. And let your actions match your words. Love is the most special connection we as human beings have. Don't waste it, and don't take it for granted if someone loves you.

Everybody love everybody,
M.D.
